Drop In Flu Clinic

We will be running a flu clinic drop in session on 2nd and 9th October between 2pm & 4pm. Please drop in if you are entitled to a free flu jab.

Same Day Assessment Clinic

Our Same Day Assessment Clinic now runs every morning  Monday to Friday. If you have a minor ailment that you have not seen a doctor about previously you can attend the drop in clinic from 9am and the first 20 patients will be seem by a clinician that day.

Weight Management Group

Walking Group

We have a patient who has trained up as a Health Champion and has organised a walking group which is free for all to join. Please come along to improve fitness, enjoy some fresh air and meet new people. The walk is run every Monday at 11am and will last around 45 mins. Please meet at the surgery. Prescription and test result line

We have a dedicated telephone number for our elderly and housebound patients to ring to order their prescriptions. The number is 01274 503642 and is available Mon -Fri 10.30am -1.30pm. This number is also available for all patients to ring for their test results.

We offer a SMS text messaging service. We will send your results to your mobile phone as soon as they have been received in surgery. If you have had more that one test you will receive a text message per test.

SMS text service is available to all mobile phone users to remind them of their appointments. Please ask at reception for a consent slip or you can register online. Please be aware it is the patient's responsibility to inform the practice of any changes to mobile numbers. 

If you are unable to attend an appointment you can text your name and appointment details to 07754 805009 and a member of the reception team will cancel your appointment.

NAMED GP

You may be aware from April 2016 all surgeries are required to provide their patients with a named GP who will have overall responsibility for the care and support that the surgery provides. This is intended to continue the patient care you already receive from the practice.

Important: This does not mean that you must always see this doctor. You are free to choose to see any of the GPs at the surgery. Also your named GP may not always be available. You may need to see a different doctor if you are acutely ill. If this is the case, your continuity of care will not be affected.

On line Services

Horton Bank Practice currently uses "SystmOnline" to provide certain on line facilities for patients.  Any patient registered with the practice may request a username and password to use with SystmOnline.

 Summary

The principle aim of SystmOnline is to provide patients with a more convenient way of booking or cancelling appointments and ordering repeat prescriptions. 

Currently, patients can use the on line facilities to:

  • Book and cancel up to two normal 10 minute appointments with a GP
                       
  • request their repeat prescriptions up to 7 days in advance
  • update their contact details (address, telephone numbers and email)

Fair use policy

To keep the system manageable, and prevent possible abuses, we have limited the functions made available to patients through SystmOnline.  Also, the events listed below have recently occurred.  The Practice considers incidents such as these to be an unacceptable use of SystmOnline.

  •  A patient books an appointment and then does not attend.  This is not acceptable as it wastes an appointment slot which could have been offered to another patient.
  • A patient books two consecutive appointments to effectively create one 20 minute long appointment.  This is not acceptable as the doctors decide if a patient requires a double appointment or not. 
  • A patient books an appointment and asks the doctor to give him/her a telephone consultation instead of a face-to-face one.  This is not acceptable as the Practice does not allow telephone appointments to be booked on SystmOnline.  If a patient wants to make a telephone appointment, they must first call reception.
  • A patient books an appointment and requests that it be turned into a specialist appointment (e.g. a diabetic or respiratory check-up appointment).  This is not acceptable as patients are only allowed to book normal 10-minute GP appointments using SystmOnline.  To book a specialist appointment, patients must instead contact reception.



Please note: patients who repeatedly and intentionally abuse the available on line facilities may have their username and password revoked
